Abebech Gobena
This week on African Voices, Ethiopian humanitarian, Abebech Gobena, called Africa’s Mother Teresa. Dr. Gobena is founder of the Abebech Gobena Orphanage in Addis Ababa. Through huge personal sacrifice, she has raised a generation of Ethiopia’s discarded children and ensured a bright future for countless others for more than two decades. Over the years, Dr. Gobena has turned a humble orphanage into one of Ethiopia’s most successful non-profit organizations. Her organization has expanded well beyond the capital, helping to educate children in impoverished, rural Ethiopia.
