SHOW #61

Ory Okolloh

Known as Kenyan Pundit, Kenyan information and technology activist Ory Okolloh has lit a fire under the African blogosphere writing about politics, human rights and other controversial issues. Blogging has gone from a hobby to activism for Okolloh. During the disputed 2007 election in Kenya where the media had been mostly been silenced she decided to get the word out by creating a website called Ushahidi or Testimony. This site allowed users to report incidents of death, rioting, looting and rape to help save lives and hold the government accountable. Since then the site has grown to include more reports from around to world whether it be about politics, crime or natural disasters. Bringing technology and information to the people is Okolloh's quest for truth.
