African Voices
SHOW #62
Henry Olonga
This week on African Voices we meet the Zimbabwean cricketer who defied the Mugabe regime and went onto win support and acclaim throughout the world. Henry Olonga was the youngest and first ever black man to play cricket for Zimbabwe. A feared fast bowler, along side team mate Andy Flower, he launched a public protest against the Mugabe regime during the Cricket World Cup in 2003. Forced to flee the country, he settled in the UK where he now plays for a charitable cricketing side as well as indulging his other great passion – singing. Kates Giles met the sporting icon.
