Inside Africa

This week on Inside Africa - Christian Purefoy finds a radical take on religion in northern Nigeria, Nkepile Mabuse examines polygamy's place in South African society - and dreams of African footballers hit the big screen - Monita Rajpal interviews the director of a well-timed documentary.

NIGERIA RADICALISM
Radicalism and religion - it's a mix all too familiar around the world. And while you may be surprised to learn the Detroit terrorism suspect came from Nigeria - this is a country that has dealt with religious violence before. Just over a year ago hundreds of people were killed when Christians and Muslims clashed in the central city of Jos. Now the attention turns to the north and the remote hometown of Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. Is more militancy on the way? For that, we turn to Christian Purefoy.

SOUTH AFRICA/POLYGAMY
We turn to South Africa, where polygamy is legal and a contentious national debate. The president and his three wives have attracted international interest in the Zulu marriage tradition. And while polygamy is not as common as it use to be in urban South Africa - it's still practiced openly in rural areas. Nkepile Mabuse explores the culture of multiple marriages.

UK/FOOTBALL FABLES
In just a few short months, the 20-10 world cup will put African football on the big stage. But before that, a new documentary titled "Football Fables" is putting up and coming African football talent on the big screen. The film's director Baff Akoto was in Italy last month to accept two awards at the Sports Film Festival. When he returned to London he sat down with CNN's Monita Rajpal.
