Inside Africa

SHOW #17

This week on Inside Africa…a gathering of the continent's reporters, a celebration of their stories--we're at the African Journalist Awards in Kampala. Plus, a look at the HIV/AIDS fight in Uganda.

PEPFAR PROGRESS

Uganda--the crossroads of east and central Africa--is at a turning point in a battle it knows all too well. HIV-AIDS, once a death sentence, has been transformed into a manageable disease. But with the demand for treatment well exceeding supply, the question now is whether the progress made can be sustained. David McKenzie reports.

AFRICAN JOURNALISM AWARDS

In its 15th year, the African Journalist Awards has become a meeting place for the continent's journalists, to catch up, to network and most importantly to honor the best stories from a year's worth of reporting. This year's event, held in Kampala, was no different; David McKenzie takes a look at the highlights and catches up with two of the night's honorees.
