With an official unemployment rate of 10%, the Egyptian government wants to create jobs.  So Egypt has put its industrial sectors in the hands of the private sector.  The goal is to encourage manufacturing and trade so the country raises its profile as a global exporter. This week, MME is on the road in Sharm El Sheikh for the World Economic Forum. We sit down with the man charged with accelerating Egypt’s economic reforms and creating a friendly business environment, Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif. With Egypt’s GDP growing at 7.5% and FDI above US$11 billion; the Middle East’s most populous country is on the economic upswing. Prime Minister Nazif talks to us about the World Economic Forum, sharing oil wealth across the region, and concerns about rising inflation.
