Sharks

An estimated 70 million sharks are killed every year. The majority for their fins, which are a key ingredient in a widely-consumed Chinese delicacy. With growing demand in Asia, shark species are being pushed to the verge of extinction. This month on Eco Solutions, CNN delves into the global network fueling the shark fin industry - from the fishermen to the consumer. We'll investigate the ecological cost of this industry as well as what's being done to protect this underwater predator. The program will take us from the streets of Hong Kong to the waters of Micronesia and finally to the United States, where a controversial bill to ban shark's fin is dividing a community sparking accusations that it's anti-Chinese.
