Niall Ferguson and Jasmine Whitbread

On this month’s Edit Room we hear from the world's most talked about historian, Niall Ferguson, and from Jasmine Whitbread – the tough talking Chief Executive of leading children's charity, Save The Children. Ferguson has rarely been out of the news since the start the financial crisis with the media and governments seeking his advice. More recently he has found himself back in the news – and this time it's personal, with his relationship with former Dutch politician Ayaan Hirsi Ali attracting comment and condemnation. Coming from a PR background, Whitbread is all too aware of how the media works. Her job now, she says, is to harness its power to help others. It can, she confesses, at times be a thankless task.
