Boss
SHOW #6
Michael Wu has left Hong Kong and is now firmly in mainland China. He's in Shenzhen, in the Guandong province to be exact--a booming Chinese city just over the border. Home to 14 million people, Shenzhen has grown into one of China's wealthiest metropolises…and not surprisingly, Michael wants a bite out of this market. Today, he’s testing this booming market with a new genki sushi restaurant in Shenzhen. Selling the southern Chinese on sushi has not been easy.
In London, the launch party for my-wardrobe.com is over, the re-designed website is up and running. Now, it’s back to business and back to a dilemma every boss has to face: how to find cover for a pregnant staff member. Over the past six months, Sarah Curran has re-designed and re-launched my-wardrobe.com. The transformation has seen the online retailer double in size in a single year. Today, it attracts over a million visitors each month. Richard Quest sits down with Curran, the founder and CEO of my-wardrobe for a visit with The Boss.
Later in the show, Michael Wu goes back to Hong Kong and to check in on one of his ventures. This isn't a restaurant though; it's the Queen Elizabeth hospital - Hong Kong Maxim's Group produces nearly five million hospital meals a year in partnership with the Hong Kong government. As the chairman and managing director of Maxim's, Wu started this division five years ago.
In New York, Steve Hindy, CEO of Brooklyn Brewery, is managing more than just his staff. It's the official opening of his new facility, the result of months of planning and 8 million dollars in investment. The event has attracted some VIP guests, including New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
