On this month’s CNN Business Traveller, it’s a tale of three cities -- New York, London and Hong Kong or NYLONKONG. They are the pillars of the global economy.  We explore how the three biggest business travel markets are faring in the global recession and how our experiences of these cities have changed. Richard Quest presents the show from New York, London and Hong Kong.

For the aviation industry, the economic downturn does not discriminate where every airline and airport are feeling the effects. It’s a good opportunity to examine the various measures airlines are implementing, through the eyes of the hub carriers of NYLONKONG -- a reflection of what is happening in the States, Europe and Asia. We take a look at the strategies of Jetblue’s $599 travel pass to any of its 59 destinations, British Airways’ ‘Face-to-Face’ US campaign offering free flights to London; and Cathay Pacific who is bucking the trend and posting profits.

Any hotel group worth its salt will have flagship addresses in NYLONKONG. In the current climate, we analyse how business executives' austere habits continue to affect occupancy and room rates. How are hotels responding? We have a look at the Four Seasons, and speak to husband wife team Kit and Tim Kemp, founders of Firmdale – after six successful boutique addresses in London, they are now opening their first hotel in New York at the end of September where rooms start at $595.

TIME OUT IN NYKONGKONG

Time Out is a unique weekly listings guide founded in London in the 1960s. It now has editions published in 24 cities around the world including New York in 1995 and Hong Kong in 2008. The challenge the publication faces is how to adapt the listings for visitors on a budget who still want to discover the city they’re in. The Timeout editors in NYLONKONG show us the best bargains.

COPING WITH JETLAG

Travelling between these three cities is tough for any road warrior, Richard tries out the latest jetlag remedies during his travels to NYLONKONG.  From London to Hong Kong he tests herbal patches that you wear in your ears.
