OPEN SKIES

This month, CNN Business Traveller is all about Open Skies – the most dramatic change in aviation in decades.  In March 2008, the Open Skies agreement means there will be new routes, which means more choice for passengers when American carriers will have the freedom to fly from any city in the U.S to any European city and vice versa.

THE BATTLE FOR THE SKIES

Richard Quest goes to the European Commission in Brussels to get an insider’s view of the negotiation process between the two sides that have battled it out for 5 years. Who better to ask than the European Union’s chief negotiator. Daniel Calleja.

THE WINNERS AND LOSERS

London Heathrow has been the backbone of transatlantic travel. For more than forty years, the runways have only been open to four airlines - two from Britain and two from the U.S. The new agreement will be a hard pill to swallow for these dominant carriers. And there could be another problem – Heathrow is bursting at the seams and some carriers could be left out in the cold. Virgin’s Sir Richard Branson and BMI’s Sir Michael Bishop share their views.

SUNRISE TO SUNSET

CNN Business Traveller’s new segment will uncover the hidden gems of Heathrow. We visit the airport’s underground chapel, we meet the resident paparazzi and talk celebrity stake-out. From one type of spotter to another – aviation enthusiasts tell us where to get the best views of landings and take-offs!
