The world's leading news network, CNN International, is planning a major expansion of its coverage of the arts and culture. At the forefront of our new programming plans is a new monthly feature show which we're calling icon.

icon will use CNN's global connections to take viewers on a journey into the worlds of art, architecture, literature, photography, dance, music, fashion and design. We'll examine how classic cultural icons have influenced new trends and ideas and look at new icons in the making.

You'll find us at the Louvre and the Guggenheim, the Tate and the Turner Prize, the Bolshoi and the Met, Venice Biennale and Milan Fashion week.  Going beyond the traditional interview-type show, CNN International's unofficial cultural correspondent, Monita Rajpal, is ready to step into the frame and the designer's studio, behind the camera and on the catwalk, all in the company of iconic guests and taste-makers ready to share their insights and show viewers why they simply must see this. From Liebskind to Liebovitz, Saatchi to Starck, Ford to Foster, Banksy to Bailey, Coelho to Cody, Gagosian to Lady Gaga, we'll turn to iconic figures and creative minds for guidance and inspiration.

The television show will be supported by a dedicated website at CNN.com - the world's most popular online current affairs destination. Visitors will be able to contribute their own cultural icons to a virtual gallery, building an interactive exhibition and even shaping the show's future content.

CNN International has an unrivalled global reach of one billion viewers in more than 200 countries, providing a one-stop shop for viewers with a thirst for the arts and culture.
