SHOW #2

Paris-Film Director Mathieu Kassovitz

“I remember when I used to live in LA, I could only stay 3 months and I had to come back to Paris. As soon as I was off the plane and get into a taxi, I would start to argue - and as soon as we would start to argue about something or just argue against each other, i would feel 'ah... the energy's coming back to me, that's life' "

This month My City_My Life travels to Paris to see city life through a director's lens. Film director, actor and writer Mathieu Kassovitz takes us on a moped-ride through the streets of Paris, from the urban sprawl that defined La Haine to the landscapes and snapshots that inspired Amelie's world. On our journey Kassovitz, a man of Hungarian ancestry, explains what it means to be truly Parisian and describes the reassurance he gets from living in a city where people question everything. On our tour we take in the streets of his old neighborhood, the tawdry sex shops of Pigalle and the picturesque views of Montmartre. Kassovitz tells CNN why some parts of Paris are just too beautiful for their own good.
