SHOW #9

Nina Persson’s Malmo, Sweden

"Love me love me

say that you love me

fool me fool me

go on and fool me ..."

These are, arguably, the most memorable lyrics uttered by singer Nina Persson. The song, "Lovefool", was famously featured in the hit film 'Romeo and Juliet' by director Baz Luhrmann. The band is "The Cardigans" - a Swedish indie-pop group that's sold five-million albums worldwide.

On this month's 'My City, My Life', Persson shows us around the group's adopted hometown - Malmo in the south of Sweden. "It's not the most obvious city but that's what I like about it. It has a certain integrity about it", says Nina, who moved here in her early 20s. "It's charming and nobody has a clue what you're up to. We (The Cardigans) could just get on with making music - and enjoying the long, carefree summers."

Persson's tour of Malmo includes the Tambourine Studios, where The Cardigans recorded all of their albums, the city's boutique shops and exotic food places - as well as music stores, the parks, a carnival, the pier where Nina married -- and even a cemetery.
