SHOW #75
Golf in Eastern Europe
This month’s show offers up an investigation into how the game of golf has developed from practically nothing in Eastern Europe under Soviet rule, to one of the leading golfing economies in these tough financial times. We’re also in Sweden to see how their number one golfer Henrik Stenson is coping with expectations that he can become the first Major winner from Scandinavia. And in addition to our regular tuition from Aussie sensation Adam Scott and a look at the latest news circulating the globe, we’ll also be reflecting on 50 years of Ping Golf, and showing you the latest training aids you should be considering when trying to lower your handicap.
GOLF IN EASTERN EUROPE - 20 YEARS ON FROM THE COLLAPSE OF COMMUNISM
Back in 1989, golf in Eastern Europe was non-existent, or if it was happening, it was happening illegally, because it was banned. However, since the collapse of Communism, golf has slowly weaved its way into the fabric of society, particularly in the Czech Republic and Hungary.
Building on our visits to this region over recent years, we’ll be speaking to influential figures on how the game has developed and indeed, how this region now represents one of the most attractive golf investments in what is tough economic times. Contributions come from Bulgaria, Poland, Czech Republic and Hungary and include leading designers such as multiple Major Champion Gary Player.
