Round the Island Race

This month MainSail comes from the Isle of Wight in the UK for the annual Round the Island race. This race was originally started in 1931 and is a focal point on the British sailing calendar. This year's event boasts a record entry list of nearly 1,900 boats and will provide a stunning spectacle around the 60 mile circumference of the island.

Host Shirley Robertson will be competing in the race onboard her extreme 40 catamaran, JP Morgan. This high speed machine will be among the front runners of the fleet and we will be tracking her progress. Plus we take a look at the biggest boat in the fleet, Leopard 3. This 100-foot super maxi has recently broken the transatlantic record and the round Ireland record and will be looking to break this event's record too which currently stands at just over 3 hours. MainSail will bring you all the action from the event.
